Im in a dilemma, and I need opinions!

OK, I am posting this because I need advice.

For the last couple of months I have been receiving text messages on my cell phone from someone I have no idea who they are.

It is a local phone number, but I don't believe it is with the same company I use for my services.

This person has sent me 3-4 completely INAPPROPRIATE pictures, (I would use the P word, but I don't want those type of people doing a search to my page.)

By the tone of the messages, I don't think it is meant to be a harassment, just someone being a dork. They send these messages but I have never replied. You would think that they would expect some type of response from the party they believe to be receiving these messages!

My dilemma is:

1. Do I contact this person and take the risk of them continually harassing me and sending me even more pictures. If I do contact them, what number do I call from? This is the moment I hate caller ID.

2. Do I call the police? If so, what would they do about it and are there any laws for this?

3. Do I contact the wireless server and see if they can do anything even though the number may not be with the.

I have been weighing this for some time. I hate that my friends send me pictures and I have to take a risk for myself or my husband to see those pictures which we absolutely DO NOT WANT TO SEE!

So, what would you do if you were in my shoes?

Don't reward the activity with a response. Check with your local provider to see if you can block that number.

You could check with your carrier but most likely they will tell you that they would have to shut off all texts. This just happened to a friend of mine. Since they have your number anyways, I would send them a text and tell them that you don't know them and stop sending you messages. If that doesn't work then I would go to the police. I know there are some laws if they are sending inappropriate material and they are underage. Sorry that you have to go through this. Whatever you do though-don't call from your home phone.

We had a few also, but they went away. I myself am not one to ask, because I don't text, so I'd just have text's removed from my phone.
Let me know what the outcome is!

This is an unfortunate situation. And from what I can tell from my research is that it is happening to a lot of people.

I do know that cell phone providers cannot block text messages from numbers. And the FCC will only take complaints concerning spam commercial text messages being sent to your phone.

I also do not think that contacting the person is an option as well. It is like spam email, once you respond, they will continue to harrass you and get more information about you.

Your options include changing your number or to block your text message option.

I took over Brian's cell phone number and disconnected mine, when I had someone I no longer wanted to text message me.

But maybe just by blocking your text message options for a time period will get them to leave you alone. Otherwise you can contact the police, what they are doing is criminal offence.

Good Luck!

The same thing happended to Cory, we have T-mobile and theywould not let us block the number, so I called the girl and this just made it worse.. I called T- mobile back and they said that they would be able to change our number for free. and the cops wont be able to do much. I have two brothers that are cops and they told me when it happened to us that the only way they can do anything is if they are threatening us.. and then its still tough for them to do anything in these cases.
