Labor Day at the Cabin

This Labor day weekend we decided to go down to the family cabin with our good friends, the Dority's! We had a wonderful trip and were thankful to be able to get away and spend time together as a family before Shaeler started Kindergarten. Our lives were taking a major change and I am so thankful that we were able to spend time together and celebrate the time we had of our carefree lazy days of summer.

Myself (sans shower), Brian and Shaeler

Playing with my camera at night. Thought this was a nice picture of the moon and clouds.

Many times we like to stop at the famous Moms Cafe in Salina. This place is famous for being in National Geographic. I think they should be famous for their scones and honey butter.

I ordered my usual, the Barron of Beef. It was very delicious and usually my favorite to order at Moms.

The first night we arrived late and so we just played around the cabin until bed time. We have found that Shaeler has a hidden talent of catching moths by hand and loves to catch and release back into the wild.

Brian made us Mountain Man Dutch Oven. Thank you!

Shae and I would go out for walks around the cabin. I bought her a scarf for the fall which turned into a belt very quickly. Oh vey!

Sitting around the camp fire making S'mores!

Laying out on the deck on Dority's hammock watching the sunset!

Love the sunsets at the cabin!

Fly came also and she was our protector from wild animals inside and outside of the cabin. We kept explaining to her that this one was already dead, but she wouldn't take our word.

Shae with dirt, marshamellows and who knows what else smeered all over her face! Nice!

Ian was a Lego-Maniac! I was quite surprised how quickly he would whip something together. This set came with a coffee maker. Really?

On the way home, we decided to drive a different way home. It was literally UP and OVER the mountain. I thought I was going to die! Only mini-vomitted twice.

Found a lake on top of the moutain and decided to stop and skip rocks.

Brian and Shaeler at Pine Something Lake? Good gravey, I am terrible!

Every bit of it looks like fun.. except for the mini-vomiting drive.. that I could do without!

Thanks for such fun times this week! We are lucky to have you guys as friends! XO
