Ve Have a Vicked Good Treat!

For Shaeler's school Halloween Party, the "head homeroom mommy" asked me to bring my favorite finger food to share with the kids.
I decided to bring one of my favorites!
It has no name for the recipe, even the place I got the recipe has no official name for it. But with the marshmallows and the chocolate, I felt that it looked halloweenish enough. Plus, I haven't made it in a while and it is always popular at the parties.

If you like S'more's, you will love it! If you devour Golden Grahams by hand when the box has been opened, my friend you are going to die over this little treat.

First, put on your apron (SHOUT OUT TO MEGAN!) and pull out your favorite pot!

I like to be a girl who is prepared, so I have my 8 cups of Golden Grahams premeasured and have my 13 x 9 inch pan all greased up (preferably with butter, a plastic bag and a mean swipe) and ready to go!

In your large pot, melt 5 cups of marshmallows, chocolate chips, corn syrup and butter in a 3 quart pan over a low heat, stirring occasionally. I only had a cup of milk chocolate chips, so I added the rest of the 1/2 cup of semi-sweet and it was still just as good.

Once it has melted in a gorgeous chocolaty mixture, remove from the heat and add the vanilla.

The recipe calls for you to have an additional bowl to mix the Golden Grahams and chocolate marshmallow mixture together, but I just poured the Golden Grahams into the pot I was melting the chocolate. Hey, I am girl that hates washing an extra dish. So add your Golden Grahams to your melted mixture; stir until evenly coated. Then stir in remaining marshmallows.

Press mixture into the buttered pan. Cool for at least one hour.
I like to add a few more marshmallows on top for a ghostly appeal.

VOILA!! Everyone I have had try this little devil of a recipe LOVES it!! Way easy to make and is always a crowd pleaser!

Second, we always missed the boat in preschool to hand out treats in class. Not this year! This mommy was on the ball! I didn't want to hand out candy, because really, aren't they already getting enough of that? I didn't want to hand out the traditional spider rings, vampire teeth and scary activity books, because lets be honest, they hit the trash as quick as the hit the bag.
So, I went healthy this year. I went to Walmart and bought 16 apples. 16 Red Delicious apples, they really are, the sign says so!

I went home and did a little research and googled a few things and attached this little card to each apple:

Ha Ha! I love it!
I originally thought the ribbon could be tied around the stems of the apples, but those fell off as soon as I tried to tie the bow. So, I cut some wood dowels, stuck them in the apple with the ribbon being pierced into the apple, attached the sign, tied the bow and VOILA: A Poisoned Apple to scare small children. They all looked at me with wide eyes asking the same question:
"Are the apples really poisoned?" To which my reply was "Why don't you take a bite and find out. Muh hahahahahah!"

I took the apples in a basket for the Ingall's effect.
So there are my treats for this year's Halloween. Had one thought:
Anyone have a possible name to give to the recipe?
Until then, here is the complete recipe for quick reference.
8 cups Golden Grahams cereal (one 13-oz box)
1 1/2 cups Milk Chocolate Chips (or half that much semi-sweet)
6 cups mini marshmallows (10-oz bag)
5 T butter or margarine
1 t vanilla
1/4 c light corn syrup
MELT: 5 cups of marshmallows, chocolate chips, butter and corn syrup in 3 quartpan over low heat, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat. Stir in vanilla. Butter a rectangular pan, 13" x 9" x 2".
POUR: Golden Grahams cereal into a large bowl. Pour marshmallow mixture over cereal; stir until evenly coated. Stir in remaining marshmallows.
PRESS: mixture into buttered pan. Cool at least 1 hour or until firm
Makes 24 bars. Store loosely at room temp.

Huh? I got the recipe from a book and they did not reference the box at all, just called them fake smores. It needs a cooler name than that! -Suzanne
