I Had the Time of My Life!

Baton Reunion 2010!

I was so nervous going, but I am so glad I did!

It was wonderful to see my old buddies whom I spent hours upon hours with in my life.

When we arrived, Mary had the tv going of pictures and old routines that we use to do. So we sat around and watched them as we ate.

Here are some of my friends that were there:

Britney, Barbara, Megan and Mrs. Marks.

Brooke, Joanne and Lacey (she is my cousin)

Melanie and Monica

I was sitting towards the back of the room and was having a hard time recognizing who was what in the team so I scooted up and sat on the floor, the next thing I knew, my comrades in crime were sitting next to me!

Britney, myself and Lacey spent many trips together traveling to California, Notre Dame, Las Vegas and Arizona. We made up songs, we had inside jokes which we reviewed most of them that night.

My favorite story was talking about one night at practice that we were outside the gymnasium seeing who could throw the baton the highest. I gave out a very prideful "Oh yeah!" and chucked my baton way above the building and then it came down on the roof of the gymnasium. I had to go get the janitors, whom we knew very well. Our practices were normally at the high schools after hours and the janitors were there every time that we were there. We nick named the janitors at this particular school "Samuelson and Rickorice" (sounds like licorice). So I had to find them and ask them to escort me to the top of the building to get my baton back. I can say that I am one of the few students of that high school that was allowed on the roof EVER! Ha!

As we grew older, some of us left the team and some stayed to continue on with a new generation. This is a picture of all that came to the reunion!

(Back Row) Lacey, me, Melanie, Megan, Marrissa, Monica and Janet (my sister)
(Front row) Britney, Mindy and Brooke

I was busting out laughing that most of our pictures was a certain pose. So I told the girls for old time sakes, that we needed this pose taken for old time sakes.

I will have to see if I can find the old pictures to show you the comparison.

I had a ball, and I am so glad that I went! I told them that we should do it again in another 10 years because that is how long it took for this first reunion. Although, my partners in crime, they are going to get more lunch dates with me!

OH, how fun!! I am not one to ever want to go back in time, but I love being able to visit with friends from my past. There is something about it that just helps keep me grounded and reminds me who I am. I think that is a good thing. I am so glad you had a great time. Cute pictures too!

I have tons of the Notre Dame pictures of the group. I will find them and email them to you unless you want me to give them to you when we pick up Shaeler. Let me know which would be best for you. BTW, did I make you mad at Grandma's house? Shaeler gave me a hug goodbye and then there was a train going down the stairs and you were out the door.

Oh Mom! No, I am not mad at all! I am sorry I did not hug you! Honestly, I feel like I am going to see you guys in a couple of weeks so it felt more like a see you later! Not a good bye! I had a great time with you guys this weekend. All is well! No preference on the pictures. Do whatever is easiest for you! Love ya! -Suzanne
