Our theme this year is: Walk with Christ.
I am extremely excited to go! I cannot wait! We have been planning this for a year and the meetings have been long. Last night was 4 hours! 2 hours with the food committee and 2 hours organizing youth. Next time you go to a big church event, promise me you will kiss your leaders who put it on. I had no idea what it takes to put one of these on until now. WHOA!
My responsibility has mainly been overseeing the Script/Choir Committee. We are putting on a production about the last hours of the Savior's life. A witness for each moment reliving and telling the story. My friend Brother Moore wrote the script and he did an AMAZING job.
I thought I was just going to assist him, but instead he asked me to play Mary Magdelene.
Alright I replied. And then began my 3 month studies of her life and memorizing the script for her part. Mary was a great woman. She was described as being a very virtous woman who was with the Savior all the time. She was at the Savior's feet on the cross with Mary, and she went with Joseph of Arimethea to get the body of Jesus back from Pilate. She watched as they wrapped him and annointed him. She returned with her own spices and then was the first witness of the resurrected Savior. She was a great woman!
It has been an interesting experience of trying to see the Savior's ressurection through her eyes. It is a part that goes from the deepest dispair to the highest happiness in a split moment. I have no acting abilities, whatsoever. The only thing I have is I am trying to see this from her perspective, and hope that I can get it right. Please let me get this right.
So next Saturday, July 26, we are having a dress rehearsal at the Stake Center for friends and family to come and see what we have been up to. Any of you are welcome to come. It starts at 11:00 am! I am scared to death, but I can do this! I can do hard things!
