A Fabulous Night!

 My dear friend,

Wednesday night was an incredible night.  It was our Ward's YW in Excellence and I think they did a wonderful job.  Their theme was butterflies and they used a talk from Ezra Taft Benson of how a young woman develops like a butterfly.  Need to find that talk and read the entire thing.  They did a video highlight that showed 3 pictures of each young women when they were a baby, a little girl and now as a young woman.  Watching their transformations was so heart touching.  I too love those YW and each has a special place in my heart.  It is definately hard to watch them grow up and then leave YW's.  Those that were Beehives just a few years ago are now Laurels.  I could cry.  (tear)

The night was great for me personally because I finished my YW's medallion and was recognized that night.  Yes, I can hear the mumblings as I did that night, I have already earned my medallion a couple of years ago.  However there are a few reasons that I did it again.

1.  Because I can!  General YW President Sister Dalton challenged us to earn as many as we could and being proud to wear it and what it represents.

2.  This round, I earned it with the same requirements as a YW.  Leaders are only required to do half of the projects and experiences, but I wanted to do it all just like a YW.

3.  I am a full believer that I would never ask someone to do something that I am not willing to do myself.  I enjoy working with YW and their leaders about the different experiences that we may be doing at the same time.  There is a power and connection when you are doing the  same thing.

4.  I wanted a gold medallion with the ruby to remind me of virtue and it being added last year.

5. I love the Personal Progress Program.

Here are a few pictures of the night.

Me and Shae!  6 more years and she is in YW's!
My new gold medallion with the red ruby.
My beutiful daughter.  How I love her.
So happy to have my daughter with me on such a great night of my life!

Those that know me, know that I wear my medallion every day with my family medallion.  I am not sure if I will ever take that one off.  I will wear the gold, but I didn't do it for the medallion.  I did it because I have a testimony of the Personal Progress Program.  It is a wonderful way to teach how to walk with Christ and be able to enter the temple worthily.  I LOVE it!

Since your wondering, yes I am a few hours away from earning my bee and have finished the Book of Mormon already.  Then I will go back again and start earning another medallion.  I will until they release me, but then I will do it again with my daughter.  Ah heck, I will always do Personal Progress because every time I do, I always learn something new.

Always loyal and true,

Suzanne

Good for you suzanne!!

One night.. you need to come and see all of the YW awards that have EVER been given out. Chad and my Dad are almost finished with the YW part of it.. and it's pretty cool.

We were laughing at some of the VERY first goals that they had back in the 20's or 30's.. Some things were " See how many fly's you can kill in one day" -- I'm sure because they were TERRIBLE back then.. but also.. a goal was to chew your food for so long it can just slide down your throat without having to swallow it!! hahahahaha!
I love the program too.
Way to be to wear the medals proudly!!!
