A Habit I Wish I Didn't Have!

Well, this is a very interesting question to have to answer.  Where to begin, or what area would you like me to focus on?  What I would find more interesting is to ask Brian what habits he wished I didn't have.  Now there's a good dinner conversation!!

A few things pop into my head

like:

Nail biting
Knuckle popping
Putting my arm out over the passenger when braking hard
poor spelling and grammar when I write
saying the word "crown" when talking about "crayons"
being too opinionated
being too blunt
etc. etc.

One habit that I have and have been working on very diligently is to not cut
people off during conversations.  I get so excited when I am able to talk to someone that my brain starts running at a much faster pace and I get excited and I will cut people off during mid sentence.  I hate it when I do that.  It is not that I don't care about what they have to say or that I think that I am right, it is just a matter of I am so excited and passionate about what I am talking about, that I for some reason cannot constrain myself.  In fact when I realize that I have done it, I will immediately stop, apologize for doing it and then ask them to continue.

Humiliating every time!

Now, I am not one to leave a thought on a negative note.  So, I want to reassure myself that I am not a bad person by listing some of the habits that I have worked hard on this last year.  Lots of discipline and effort and sometimes still it doesn't feel like a habit, but I can definitely feel the rewards for choosing to do good things.  Please don't take this as a bragging opportunity, I just prefer to recognize the good over the bad.

Great habits I have developed or are currently working on to develop:

Getting up early to work out
Working out
Washing my face at night
Applying lotion and sunblock everyday
Studying
Taking Notes
Writing Notes
Smiling Everyday
Doing kind things for Brian and Shae
Being a positive person and finding the bright side of things
Eating healthy

Actually a better list to make out would be the habits that I would like to develop in the future.

That list includes:

Saying hello and goodbye to people when at parties, groups and gatherings
Laughing instead of getting upset
Listening more and willing to act
More willing to give
Expressing more gratitude in word and notes
Make my bed everyday
Having conversation with complete strangers.

Well that's a lot to work on, but I am more than willing to try.

What Habit do you wish that you could better develop?

Why not start today?

You're blunt? That is a trait I have never seen in you. Funny how we see things in ourselves that others may not catch.

I love your list on great habits that you have and/or are currently working on. I need to create one of those for myself. You have inspired me. That and like you I love lists! ;)
