Happy Valentines Day and I am grounded to my house!

Happy Valentines Day! I wish I could sing that love is in the air, but I stepped outside and it is pretty crazy out there. We woke up this morning with about a foot and a half of snow. The nasty storm started last night and kept going into the wee hours of the morning.

Brian went out and tried to shovel it and had no luck. It is too heavy and with the wind, it is pretty much a tough job to finish. He came in and told me that I cannot leave the house until after 10:00 and if I did not have my 4 wheel drive, there was no way I would get out of the driveway. Schools have been cancelled and Jordan School District pushed their start time back 2 hours. The drifts alone around my house are like art work.

So my question is: what are some of your family traditions at your house. Shae and I already put her Valentines together and Brian and I will celebrate this weekend. But I am wondering as families, does anyone do anything special? A special meal, make cookies, etc. I think Shae and I will make cookies as we are stuck home or something to that effect.

We have a Valentine Man in our family. He started with my 2nd Great Grandparents, and he still coming! I'll have to tell you about him later... It's pretty funny!

We make everything out of hearts. Heart sandwich, jello, cookies, etc... Cookie cutters are handy for more than just cookies!!

Because we love books, they each get to pick a Valentine book, or one about love that they enjoy, and we read it.
It's really about just being together!!!

We didn't get hit nearly that hard. We did however, have monsterous winds. Jordan shoveled our driveway when he got home wed night (after it stopped snowing) and when he left yesterday morning, there was another 12 inches just from the wind blowing it over from our neighbors roof.

I remember that my parents always got us something small. Usually a toy or book or jewelry or a tape (they didn't have cd's then). I didn't really think about it until I had kids and how much just something little really meant to me. I try to do that now with our kids.

Speaking of kids, Me and Jordan will go to lunch for Valentines day and then spend the rest of the day with the kids. It is way to crowded to go out to dinner and the kids are my valentine just as much as Jordan is.

I hope that yesterday wasn't too bad for you. And I hope that Shae is feeling better!
