Becoming a Better Woman!

I have had some thoughts lately that just prick at my mind almost every day:

Prick, Prick Prick...

"What are you doing to take care of physical self?"

Prick, Prick, Prick.....

3 months after Shaeler was born, I had an inner most desire to start taking care of my body better.

A lot better!

Never in my life had I felt a bigger drive to be healthy for Shae so when she walked, I could walk with her, when she ran, I could run with her, when she played, I was right next to her playing.

Being physically healthy was a gift I could give to my daughter. Being physically healthy was a HUGE gift I could give to myself.

So I started to run!

I started to weight lift!

I started to swim!

I started to ride!

I was happy and healthy!

The year 2008 has been a brutal one for me, especially physically.

I stopped running!

I stopped weight lifting!

I stopped swimming!

I stopped riding!

(yes, I chose poopy brown for this because that is how I feel!)

I can feel and see now the effects of my laziness and lack of motivation is doing to me mentally and physically! And let me tell you:

I am NOT happy! Not happy at ALL!

I don't know about the rest of you, but I am a girl of accountability. If I am accountible to someone, then it is done. Not only done, but done 110%!

When it is just for myself, things slide and I let myself down. It for some reason only gets 20% and I am quick for excuses.

So, here is my game plan, but I need help with this one!

Next year on

September 9, 2009

There is a Utah Marathon Relay!

5 people run a marathon course in 5.2 increments.

This is BRILLIANT!

I would love to set a goal to run this race with 4 other people who would like to join me in 2009.

Think of it: 11 months to train to run 5.2 miles.

If you don't run, then walk or jog or skip, I am not that picky!

We would get healthy, we would lose a little weight, I'll buy dinner for our group after the race......yeah that 's right, I will will buy dinner.

If I am accountable to 4 other people, then I know I will do it. It would be done, done 110%.

But I am at the mercy of 4 other people joining me.

Entry fee is $125 which is $25 a person which is $3 and some change a month until the race.

Best part, we get a baton to pass to each other! C'mon we get our own baton!!

Here is the link for the Utah Marathon Relay!

I have read in one of my books, that "people with esteem, do esteemable things."

We 5 woman can empower ourselves for the next 11 months and put ourselves in better shape and we all know that will make us feel better.

Hence we will be better mothers, wives and friends.

If nothing else, this may motivate some of you to get your rears in gear!

You made me do it!

So Who Will Join ME!!

Okay, I know that picture isn't of you (I'm talking about the last one).

I would love to do this with you, the only problem I foresee is the fact that I can't really train for the next 7-8 months. That wouldn't leave me much time.

I remember the accomplishment I felt when I did the WJ 5K with you guys a few years back. I was so proud of myself (even though I came in last) that I at least finished. I would love to have that feeling back again.

I'm in! Seriously - sign me up. I'm having the baby in March so running five miles by September is a do-able goal for me. I'm totally going to regret this once I start training but it's well worth it and I need the motivation! It'll be fun!

LOL. That picture at the end is hilarious. I'm too far away to run it with you, but you're always welcome to come out here and run with me sometime! :) Way to go Suz!

That last picture is just gross...

I am still running...I would love to do it! 5.2 miles is completely doable...especially if we can make our baton a Spirit Stick (like the one in the movie Bring It On)

Yep, I'm with you on the feelin' crappy and not doing anything about it! Last year a group of us played raquetball everyday and I felt SO much better, but I just can't seem to get back to it. I'm just not a runing gal..... I have always had this theroy that you only run if something is chasin' you. And I've vowed to stick with my theroy, but lately I find myself thinking, maybe, you might like it?? no you wouldn't, well, maybe you could learn to like it? or maybe not. Maybe someday, but I'm just not there yet.
Good luck to you! I can't wait to hear how it goes! Monica

Oh, I should. I am having a baby in April and running never was my thing. I prefer the privacy of my treadmill!!!!

You are the same old Suz - AWESOME!!!!!!!! I have missed you so much. It looks like we live sort of close. Email me at easterb2000 at yahoo and I will invite you to our blog.

CONFESSIONS OF THE TEAM LEADER!!

PAUSE..................

I ABSOLUTEY HATE RUNNING!!

There, I said it, I admitted it! It is an aquired taste so to say. I stated that if you prefer to walk the 5.2 miles, then I absolutely do not care! This is about being healthy and doing something better for yourself.

2 spots left!! Who's it gonna be!

Okay - so I was waiting to see who would support you and sign up.

Still waiting.

I would love to say yes, but don't want to drop out or disappoint if I get prego and am super fat and unable to even walk at that time.

I will keep checking this post for takers. If you need me ... I'm there.

I hate running.
