10 Getaway!

This last wednesday, Brian and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary!
10 years, baby! Feels like the first 5 were a lifetime ago.
We decided to celebrate by doing something we have wanted to do for a long time.
Go to Manti, Utah!!
I know, I know, not the most romantic destination, however it was a beautiful and wonderful trip that fit perfectly into our lives.
As we drove in to the valley, you cannot help but see the Manti Utah Temple up on the hill!

The architecture of this temple is breathtaking! The temple sits on top of a hill and this is a stairway built to go up to the temple from the bottom of the hill.

One of the other reasons I have been dying to get to Manti, is that I have family from the pioneers that were sent here to build the city and the temple. So as I was down, I checked out the cemetary. Did not find a lot because of the rain and the mosquitos, but I did find a coupld of headstones.

Becauase it was our anniversary, Brian took me to a little bed and breakfast that is across the street from the temple. Oh, it was so charming and the building was an old house that was restored and now used as a B&B.

We stayed in the hide away suite. Her are a couple of shots of our room.

Sadly, we were too tired and was not able to use the jetted tub.

The rooms in the main house are named after prophets of old. This I believe was the Joseph F Smith room. Very quaint and so adorable.

This is the front porch of the B&B and it reminded me of Ann! This is for you, Ann!

Now, one of the cool things about the Manti temple is that Moroni stood on the very hill that the temple was built. Hence this is Moroni in the picture with the temple. I am telling you the inside of the temple is unbelievably beautiful! I was blown away and I gasped a couple of times of the beauty. I cannot think of a better way to spend my 10 year anniversary. Thank you Brian!

At the Moroni statue, there is a plaque that recognizes the people that helped build the city and Manti Temple! Low and behold, I found Daniel Henrie's name. He is my 4th great grandfather. How cool is that?

Sadly my time in Manti was short as we had to hurry home for the temple celebration. I will never forget the wonderful day time I had in the Manti area, and I cannot wait to go back!

PS - We had dinner at a Steakhouse grill in Manti called The Steadman's. Ok, for the appetizer bread they served scones! SCORE!! Awesome little restaurant! One of my new little town restaurants! Stop by if you are ever in Manti!

Yay!! You got to go! Sweet!!

I love that Temple! It's my 2nd favorite.. I LOVE the interior, and the oldness to it. I need to go again soon.

So cool that you found some ancestors.. I love that! It makes my day!

Thanks for the porch shot and the shout out! I loved it, and love the white in the room. That stained glass that they have in the tops of the doorways is one of my favorite things in old houses. Too cool.

I heard marvelous things about the Celebration! Yay!
Open house starts tomm! Chad and I are on duty Saturday! It's going to be a FULL day! :)

That sounds like a very romantic weekend! The B&B looked really nice - so pretty. It is just fun to do the splurge once in awhile :D

The Manti Temple is really a beautiful Temple - I love the pictures you took of the architecture and the stairs. It almost looks mid-evil.

I have only been there once and it was when I was in college so I didn't appreciate it like I would now - So I really appreciated your pictures! Good Job and Happy Anniversary - 10 years is a great milestone!!

Yea! Manti is my FAVORITE Temple and always will be. It's been our stakes temple, well, always. That is where I went to do baptisms when I was young, and where I took my endowments and someday where I hope to be sealed to my family! I love driving into Manti and seeing that gorgeous building sitting on top of the hill. And it's just as beautiful and awesome on the inside!
We drove by on our way to Ephraim last week and Carlie's sweet little voice chimed from the back seat "That's Jesus's house and we can go there to see him."
I can't think of a better way to spend your anniversiary!
Happy 10th!

that is awesome. I went to Snow College for a year and always went to the temple grounds there as a place to read my scriptures. I have never been there to do work and I reeeeally want to someday. looks awesome.

What a great trip and wonderful experience. I have never been to Manti (at least not that I remember), but it looks like I will be adding it to a new adventure to try one day. Happy 10 year anniversary and we are sending your daughter back to you spoiled and well loved. :)

Dang...what a GORGEOUS temple. I haven't been there since I was little. It's beautiful! What a fun anniversary! The B&B looks so charming and quaint. I love little getaways...good for you. My stomach is literally churning now thinking of those scones. Talk about a Utah thing! With honey butter too? I haven't had a scone in 16 years I bet!
